It is believed that this Temple is graced by Narada Maharshi, which was unnoticed for centuries, was found out about 150 years ago.
A man who went to the forest for grazing the cattle had an amazing sight - a boy of divine nature was taking water in his ‘kamandalu’ from the nearby Kanhirapuzha River. The man anxiously followed the boy and witnessed the sight of his disappearance on entering the ‘ Sreekovil of a very old temple in the middle of the forest. That devotee immediately brought the news to the king, His Highness Kottayam Veera Varma Raja. Upon hearing this news, the Raja who was very generous made all arrangements for the day-to-day functioning of this temple. The Raja entrusted, the surrounding area of this temple, to a body, which was later known, as “Peravoor Devaswam”.
After some years the regime of Kottayam Raja came to an end. Subsequently, the land belonging to the temple was deprived of its possession and the temple without any income slowly got ruined.
